Hello!
I'm Isobel
Lucy's mum. Retired (officially), busier than ever (apparently), and writing the Retired Life Diaries from the other side of midlife.
People assume retirement is one long quiet morning. Mine isn't. There are friends to see, gardens to dig up, grandchildren to feed, and now, apparently, a blog to write.
I'm fairly new to making my own clothes - it's a new venture, and I'm learning as I go. (I once sewed a pair of trousers up the wrong way - proves my point!) I'm finding that's quite a nice way to be at this stage of life: a beginner again, at something I always wanted to try.
I write about the things I'm actually doing - the friendships that have lasted 63 years (yes, really), the small daily rituals that hold a week together, the slightly unglamorous reality of looking after an older body, and the books, walks and people that keep me curious.
If you're somewhere near this stage, or watching a parent move into it, I hope some of this is useful - or at the very least, good company over a cup of tea.
